Edmundson is a South High School Alum and celebrated author of “Black & Brown Faces in America’s Wild Places." This May, he returns home to share his memories of Blacklick Woods and his love of nature and photography with you.

Bank Run Sneak Peek

Join us on Black Friday for our #OptOutside sneak peek at the newest Metro Park, Bank Run. Formerly the Hoover YMCA, Bank Run is setting up to be a park that is specific for larger events! There is a large lodge that will be available and some future developments with a quarry that you will have to attend the hike to learn about! Join us refreshments and a behind the scenes look at the newest park!

RSVP early! These hikes generally fill up pretty quickly. There are no restrooms on site, so please plan accordingly! Wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for some mud depending on the weather. This is a hike for members only, so make sure your
membership is up to date!

Seventh Son Field Trip

Seventh Son Brewing Co. has partnered with Friends of Metro Parks to host a pop-up bar at Blendon Woods Metro Park on *Friday, Sept. 8 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The one-night-only ticketed event, “Field Trip,” will feature Seventh Son beer (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), Kitty Paw hard seltzer, and wine, in addition to a live string performance from Chamber Brews and delicious handmade pizza from Elevated Wood Fired Pizza food truck. 

The site will be located at Camp Sugarbush on the south end of the park. It can be accessed from the Day Camp entrance, 5364 Cherry Bottom Rd. A park map can be found HERE.

The Field Trip site will be decked out with picnic tables and chairs for comfortable seating, string lights, and other outdoor gear provided by Public Lands.

Two types of tickets are available: 

  • Standard Ticket: $45 – Includes two Seventh Son beers or Kitty Paw hard seltzers, trail mix snack, Friends of Metro Parks donation, and gratuity. 

  • Designated Driver Ticket: $20 (limited qty) – Includes one NA beer, one bottled water, trail mix snack, Friends of Metro Parks donation, and gratuity.

*Pizza and additional beverages can be purchased separately at the event.

Join Friends of Metro Parks for a casual Garden Party at Inniswood Metro Park. Enjoy heavy appetizers, drinks (including a signature mimosa), live music, garden tours, a silent auction, lawn games, and more!

Buy a single ticket, or buy a whole table and bring your friends! We will be celebrating the Metro Parks while enjoying a relaxing evening in the picturesque Inniswood Metro Gardens.

This event will be held primarily outdoors.

Friends of Metro Parks and Metro Parks Outdoor Adventure are joining forces for our first SUP with your Pup/Yappy Hour collaboration at our newest Metro Park, Quarry Trails! on June 30th, from 3-8, learn how to Stand Up Paddle Board with your dog! Bring a life jacket for your dog, and borrow a life jacket for yourself!

From 5-8, enjoy Land Grant beers and food from Holy Crepes food truck while you enjoy the newest dog-friendly Metro Park! Dogs not required, but dogs that attend should be leashed.

Friends of Metro Parks, Seventh Son Brewing Company, and Explorers Club food truck are helping bring in the summer at Walnut Woods Metro Park. Join us for a fun filled evening of food, beer, and dogs!

Your furry friend can meet other pups and play off-leash in the 4 acres of fenced-in dog park at the Buckeye Area. If it's warm, we recommend going for a dip in the dog swimming area!

Join the Friends of Metro Parks on an exclusive naturalist-led hike through one of the newer Metro Parks properties. our last hike through this property was two years ago, and we are excited to see how the space changes in the spring!

Park on Cambira Way and meet in the field. For those using a GPS, the location is directly across from 5247 Cambria Way.

This is a difficult hike! Please wear sturdy shoes and prepare for steep hills, mud, and leaves.
